The Dip @ Goodgod Small Club, Sydney

This post, among many others, is way overdue =P. Again, it's of a place I've wanted to visit for a long time now. I finally found the perfect opportunity when I found out (through ChocolateSuze's Instagram!) that they were celebrating International Bacon Day (September the 5th - see?! so long ago!!) over at The Dip, by creating a menu featuring bacon as the main star, for 2 weeks only. I rushed to find a dining companion (the trusty BFF) and headed over there on a Wednesday night.

The Dip is pretty much a diner style eatery open during the latter half of the week within the depths of GoodGod. Hotdogs, burger, fries and sundaes pretty much dominate the menu - all American diner type food. In fact, Andrew Levins, the creative genius behind the menu, released a book recently called Diner! Of course, being a club, Goodgod is pretty dark and dank, which is a shame for taking pics =S.


We got there heaps early and I'm pretty sure we were the first customers for the evening. I was pretty keen to get stuck into some food, having held out on eating much in anticipation for the bacon-fest ahead =P.


We decided to stick with the specials since that's what we came for, but the regular menu looks yummo as well, and given the prices I'd love to go back to try them.

We started with the Chip n Dip, which came with a really nice pico de gallo. The 3 Little Pigs Dawg was pretty nice, I loved the bacon hash slaw!

We were intrigued by the idea of the Babe Sundae, and we of course had to try it. It was.....weird? I dunno! Definitely different. We pretty much finished it, but it just tasted weird (the best bit was the bacon infused maple syrup I reckon!). I think we kept eating it because we didn't know what to make of it, the taste was so foreign..."is it bacon? is it ice cream? is this even right!?!". And afterwards we decided we didn't like it. But, you know, it tasted like bacon which of course was the aim =P. I guess we're not ready for savoury meat flavoured ice cream haha.

Overall, a good chillout dinner, great place to grab a bite and unwind with friends =D. I LOVE how they have theme weeks and change the menu up, keeps it interesting and fresh (and wanting to come back and try everything!)
