MoVida Bar de Tapas, Melbourne

I've wanted to dine at MoVida since I started going on these (increasingly) sporadic trips to Melbourne back in 2010. I didn't care which one I ended up at, and to be honest, I didn't even know there was more than one =P. All I knew was that I wanted to go. I had plans to go on our last day mack in 2011, but we were too hungover to even get our asses up and walk the 5 minutes or whatever it was (and probs bring it back up on the plane ride home....what a waste ahahha). And then, we MISTAKENLY thought it was closed on Sunday on our last day on my first trip in 2012. Finally, I got the chance to on my latest trip! And we were lucky too, it being a Saturday and all, we just marched in there and were surprised to be seated immediately. No queue? Hmmmm.......



The menu was quite small, but there were only a few of us and in my opinion, it's nice not to have to go through the anxiety of deciding what to chose from an immense menu anyway.

Didn't take us long to decide what to get, and all the dishes came pretty fast as well! Unusually, we ordered quite well, managing to get a variety of things and not over-order for once =P

Gamba - Prawn Pincho with Romesco

I think most of us were not expecting our prawns to be served up as cubes haha. Defs some textural issues for me...

Tigre - Stuffed Mussel Shell with Chorizo

My favourite dish! I wish I had ordered more!! Loved how they had crumbed and fried the mussel, made it so easy to eat. So good!!

Pollo Escabache Al Miguel - Spiced Chicken Escabache Tapa on Crisp Crouton

Cordero - Char Grilled Lamb Rump with Marinated Capsicum Salad

Setas Asadas Con Jerez - Oven-Roasted Portobello Mushrooms finished with Sherry Vinegar

Not bad at all! I love tapas, and it was nice to go to a place with uncommon dishes =). Although, I'm not sure if it lived up to all the hype, again, maybe a case of me building it up in my head too much =P. Ah well, maybe next time I'll dine at MoVida Next Door or MoVida Aqui and see how it compares. OR I could visit the Sydney branch!
