The Hardware Societe, Melbourne

I thought I should start posting up all my foodie posts from Melbs, because if I wait any longer it will look like I'm going there again =P. Or, It may actually clash with future posts if I actually do again haha.

Hardware Societe was the first place we dined at properly when we went this time. We were absolutely starving as some of us had landed the night before and had a nice old tipsy time at Cookie (for their amazing prawns) and Rooftop Bar (my fav!) =P.  By the time the others had landed it was time for lunch, and we didn't wanna go to fancy-pants places because as usual we were on a budget. And we also didn't wanna travel far for a good feed. Good thing for us, our hotel was pretty much surrounded by some pretty decent and well known eateries in Melbs - SCORE! All we had to do was walk a few minutes and we were outside this amazing (albeit packed) gem! This was the perfect place!  Everything was like $15 and they were pretty good portion sizes! I have no pictures of the interior unfortunately but it was a really bright and cheerful, I really liked it's fresh homely feel. After reading a few blog posts it looks like the menu changes all the time. They don't have a website (surprise surprise) so again I'm gonna rely on my failing memory and creative spirit :).

Grilled Chicken with Grilled Asparagus, Confit Garlic and Madeira Sauce 

Lamb Pie with Couscous and Heirloom Tomatoes (so yummaay!!)

Pork Belly with Mashed Minted Peas, Poached Prawns and Spiced Jus

Service was pretty good and accommodated us pretty well. It did take a while for the food to come out but we weren't fussed that much. It was worth it when it did arrive =D. Again after reading some blog reviews it seems that most people visit this place for breakfast or brunch, but I'm telling you it's well worth coming a bit later for lunch! Having said that I want to revisit this place for breakfast! I've seen pictures of their fried brioche with whipped salted caramel (featured on the latest edition of their breakfast menu) and I slobber all over the place =P.
